A client working on her laptop from bed during an in-home IV

That scratchy throat on a Sunday night. The coworker who powered through a cold two desks away. The Immune Booster brings 5,000mg of vitamin C, glutathione, and zinc in a liter of fluids, finished with a vitamin D shot, to your door before things get worse.

What is in it

  • Saline or Lactated Ringers. A liter of IV fluid, because a hydrated body handles everything better.
  • Vitamin C, 5,000mg. An antioxidant your immune cells use up quickly when they are working hard, at a dose tablets cannot realistically reach.
  • Glutathione. One of the body's main antioxidants, involved in protecting cells.
  • Zinc. A mineral your immune system depends on.
  • Vitamin D shot. A quick intramuscular injection. Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so it goes in as a shot rather than in the bag.

Who it is for, and when to book it

Book it at the first sign something is coming on: the tickle in your throat, the achy heaviness, a classroom cold making the rounds at home. Clients also book it before flights, conferences, cruises out of Galveston, and the winter stretch when half of Houston is sniffling in the school pickup line.

An honest note: no IV can promise you will not get sick, and we will not tell you otherwise. What this IV does is deliver the raw materials your immune system uses, at full strength, while it rehydrates you.

When to call your doctor instead: A high fever, trouble breathing, or symptoms that keep getting worse are beyond what an IV should handle. We are first responders, we will always point you to the right level of care.

How it works in the body

Your gut absorbs less vitamin C as the dose goes up, so most of a large tablet dose goes unused. An IV bypasses digestion, so the full 5,000mg reaches your bloodstream, along with the zinc and glutathione. Most IVs run 30 to 60 minutes, and your provider continuously monitors the infusion until completion.

Questions about The Immune Booster

Does a vitamin C IV actually help your immune system?

Vitamin C is a nutrient your immune cells use and deplete quickly during illness, and an IV reaches blood levels tablets cannot. That is the honest case for it. It is not a cure or a shield, and anyone promising that is overselling.

When is the best time to get it?

Early: at the first scratchy throat, or before high-exposure stretches like flights, conferences, and holiday travel. If you are several days into a bad flu, ask us about The Kitchen Sink instead; it adds medications for nausea and aches.

Why is the vitamin D a shot instead of in the IV?

Vitamin D is fat-soluble and does not belong in a saline IV, so we give it as a quick injection in the shoulder while your IV runs.

Can I get this if I am already sick?

Usually, yes, and rehydrating is often the most useful thing when you are ill. Your provider reviews your symptoms and health history first. If anything points to a physician or an ER, such as trouble breathing or a high fever that will not come down, we will say so plainly.
