A client resting on the couch during an in-home IV

The hardest part of having the flu is getting treated for it: dragging an aching, feverish body to a waiting room full of other sick people. You can skip that. We bring fluids, vitamins, and comfort medications to you, on your couch, under your blanket.

An IV will not cure your flu faster, and you should be suspicious of anyone who says otherwise. What an IV may help with is the dehydration, aches, and nausea that make those days miserable, so you can rest.

Signs the flu is getting the upper hand

  • Fever, chills, and a deep body ache
  • You cannot drink enough because your throat hurts or your stomach is unsettled
  • A headache and congestion that over-the-counter medicine barely touches
  • So weak that the walk to the kitchen feels like a workout
  • Day three, and you are getting worse, not better
  • A work trip, a wedding, or a family schedule that will not pause for a virus

When to see a doctor instead: If you are within 48 hours of flu symptoms starting, call your doctor. Antivirals work best early, and an IV is not a substitute for them. Trouble breathing, chest pain, or a fever that will not come down means the emergency room. We are first responders, we will always point you to the right level of care.

How an IV helps when you are sick

No IV can kill a virus, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it can do is ease the misery while your immune system does its job. Fever and a poor appetite dehydrate you quickly, and dehydration makes every flu symptom feel worse.

A liter of fluids replaces what you have lost, bypassing digestion for full absorption. Vitamin C and zinc support normal immune function, and anti-nausea and anti-inflammatory medications, given under physician medical direction, may help you rest, eat, and sleep. That is what recovery actually runs on.

Questions about IVs for cold and flu

Will an IV cure my flu faster?

No, and be wary of anyone who says it will. The flu runs its course. An IV may ease the dehydration, aches, and nausea so you can rest, drink, and eat while your immune system finishes the job. For antivirals, see a doctor within 48 hours of your first symptoms.

Is it safe to get an IV while I have a fever?

For most healthy adults, yes. Before your first IV, you complete your consents and a $25 pre-IV medical screening virtual visit that is good for a year. If your symptoms point to a physician or an ER, such as trouble breathing, chest pain, or a fever that will not come down, we will tell you directly instead of starting a line.

Can you treat my whole household?

Yes, and it happens often, because the flu rarely stops at one person. Each person chooses their own IV, and groups of 4 or more can ask about our group discounts. For large groups, we bring additional providers so the whole group infuses at once.

How soon can a provider get here?

We offer same-day appointments, daily 8 AM to 8 PM. Finding an available provider often takes from 5 to 10 minutes on average, and we will give you a real arrival window.
