Healing is construction work, and construction needs materials. The Pre/Post Surgical IV delivers the nutrients your body draws on to repair tissue, including amino acids, vitamin C, zinc, and antioxidants, in a full liter of fluids, at home, when driving anywhere is the last thing you should be doing.

What is in it

  • Saline or Lactated Ringers. A liter of fluids. Surgery, fasting, and pain medications all leave you drier than you realize.
  • Amino Blend. The raw material for rebuilding tissue and keeping muscle while you are less active.
  • B-Complex. B vitamins that help with energy and cell turnover, both in overdrive during recovery.
  • B12. Supports the red blood cells that carry oxygen to healing tissue.
  • Vitamin C. Required to build collagen, which is what wound repair is made of.
  • Glutathione. One of the body's main antioxidants, supporting cells under the stress of surgery and healing.
  • Taurine. An amino acid involved in cell recovery and hydration.
  • Zinc. A mineral with a long-documented role in tissue repair.

Who it is for, and when to book it

Clients book this IV on both sides of an operation. Before: in the days leading up to a procedure, to go in hydrated and topped off. After: once you are home and cleared, when your appetite is unreliable, pain medications make food unappealing, and your body is doing its heaviest repair work.

Coordinate with your surgeon: Tell their office you are planning an IV and ask whether they have any restrictions; timing around certain procedures and medications matters. We support your surgical team's plan and never replace it. Fever, spreading redness, unusual swelling or drainage, chest pain, or shortness of breath means your surgeon or the ER first, every time.

How it works in the body

Healing raises your need for protein, vitamin C, and zinc exactly when eating well is hardest: anesthesia lingers, pain medications slow the gut, and appetite disappears. An IV routes around that, placing amino acids and nutrients directly into your bloodstream along with the fluid your recovery depends on. Most IVs run 30 to 60 minutes, and your provider continuously monitors the infusion until completion.

Questions about the Pre/Post Surgical IV

When after surgery can I get an IV?

Once you are home and your surgeon has no objection, often within the first few days, when fluids and nutrition matter most. Every case is different, so check with your surgical team first; we will ask whether you have when we confirm your booking.

Will this speed up my healing?

We will not promise that, because nobody honestly can. What is well established is that healing uses protein, vitamin C, and zinc at higher rates, and shortfalls work against you. This IV is designed to keep those supplied while your body does the work.

Is it safe with post-op medications?

Usually, but it is checked case by case. Your provider reviews every medication, including pain medications and blood thinners, before anything is given, under physician medical direction. Have your discharge paperwork handy; it makes the review quick.
